1) A New Orleans man was shot in the leg as he was walking Monday afternoon in the 1300 block of Elysian Fields Avenue. 7th Ward, Shooting

2) Sunday July 26, 2009, 7:18 PM New Orleans police are in Algiers investigating the city's latest murder. The killing occurred about 4:15 p.m. at the Jackson's Landing apartment complex in the 3500 block of Garden Oaks Drive. Eric Lee, 21, died after being stabbed. Upon arrival officers observed the victim suffering from a stab wound to the chest. The victim was involved in an argument with several unknown females. West Bank, Murder

3) On Sunday, July 26th, 2009 at around 11:55 P.M., the victim was walking with his friend near the intersection of Powhatan Street and Iroquois Street when an unknown type vehicle drove by them and about nine gunshots were heard. The victim ran and was struck in the left forearm by one of the bullets. The victim ran to another friend's house nearby, who drove him to the hospital. Gentilly Woods, Shooting

4) On Saturday, July 25th, 2009 at around 8:05 A.M., officers responding to a call of a man down in the 2600 block of Athis Street discovered a b/m subject in his late 30's suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

5) On 07/21/09 at about 1115hrs, Officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting in the 2000 block of Cypress Acres. Upon arrival officers found the victim at the location with multiple gunshot wounds. West Bank, Shooting

1) A 50-year-old man was found shot to death inside of his condemned house in the St. Roch area early this morning. Donald K. Brown died before paramedics could make it. He had been shot in the head and torso. Officers went to Brown's house in the 2800 block of Comus Court after someone called 911 about 1 a.m. They found a crack pipe and what appeared to be drugs on the floor near Brown's body. Officials haven't released details on suspect/motive. St. Roch, Murder

2) A teenager was killed and two other people injured in an apparent drive-by shooting
Wednesday night near the intersection of Louisa Street and St. Claude Avenue about 8 p.m. D'Andre Rumbley, 16, of New Orleans, died at the scene from multiple gunshot wounds about 8 p.m. Witnesses described it as a drive-by. A 21-year-old man was shot in the left upper arm and was reported in stable condition. A 47-year-old woman was in guarded condition after she was shot multiple times. Both were taken to a hospital. The woman was sprawled in front of the St. Claude Used Tire Store at the intersection. A witness said he saw a blue Ford truck drive by and a man begin firing rounds from the passenger side. At the intersection of Marais Street and Poland, police guarded a Ford F-250 four-door truck. It looked as if it was abandoned suddenly near a large oak tree at the Heartbeats Life Center. 3) Someone murdered a 22-year-old local man and shot his friend Tuesday morning, while they were on a porch in the 1800 block of Leonidas. Bryan Christopher Smith was hit multiple times in the 7:55 a.m. shooting, and at least one bullet struck his head and knocked him to the ground face up. The friend, 21, was also shot multiple times, was rushed to LSU Interim Public Hospital in guarded condition. Bullets hit him at least once in the leg and abdomen. Hollygrove, Murder, Shooting

4) 3700 block of Texas homicide. On 07/13 at 1527hrs, officers responded to gunshots at the location. Upon arrival officers observed the victim suffering from multiple
gunshot wounds to the upper torso. Victim was transported to the

5) On Sunday, July 12, 2009, at 11:53pm, Eighth District Units received a
call of gunshots at Bienville and Clinton. Witnesses observed several
black males firing handguns. Responding officers
observed several black males fleeing. These subjects were
apprehended. It was later learned that the victim, 16 yo B/
M, had been taken by private vehicle to a local hospital with a
gunshot wound to the abdomen and one to the shoulder. French Quarter, Shooting

6) On Saturday, July 11, 2009 at about 9:49am the victim and the arrested
were in the 2800 block of Abundance St. An argument ensued between
the victim and the arrested. The argument escalated and the arrested
subject retrieved a knife and cut the victim. The victim was
transported to the hospital for treatment. The perpetrator was later

7) On Saturday, 07/11/09 at about 11:40 p.m., Second District units
responded to a shooting in the 8300 block of Belfast Street. Upon
arrival Officers observed a black male lying in front
of a rsidence in the 8300 block Belfast Street suffering from one gun
shot wound to the head. EMS attempted to render aid but could not
revive the subject. On July 12th Ricardo Jackson (b/m 18 yrs. old)

8) On Tuesday, 7-7-2009, at 12:32pm, N.O.P.D. 1st District Units
responded to a double homicide at 1445 Iberville St. Upon arrival
officers entered into the residence and observed two victims lying on
the floor from apparent gunshot wounds. The investigation is ongoing

9) On Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 9:13pm, 1st District Officers responded to
an aggravated battery by shooting in the 1700 block of Columbus St.
upon arrival Officers discovered a black male laying in the street
suffering from several gunshot wounds to his upper body. The victim
expired on scene. 7th Ward, Murder

10) On Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at or about 3:30 pm, Officers responded to an
aggravated battery by shooting at the intersection of N. Miro and
Bienville St. Upon arrival Officers discovered two victims from
apparent gunshot wounds. One victim expired on the scene, while the

11) On Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 12:54pm, Officers responded to an
aggravated battery by shooting at the intersection of Touro and N.
Derbigny St. The victim was entering his vehicle when was shot several
times. The victim drove his vehicle notified the police at the near
the corner of St. Claude and Elysian Fields. St. Roch, Shooting

12) On Tuesday, June 7, 2009, at 6:53pm, the Sixth District officers
investigated a shooting at First and Chippewa Streets. Upon arriving
at the scene, officers located the victim, who was suffering from a
gunshot wound to the lower left leg.The victim was walking at the intersection of First and Chippewa Streets when he was approached by three unknown
black males, all between the ages of 17 – 19. One of the subjects

13) On Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at about 5:30pm, the victim and the wanted
subject were in the 2500 block of Lavender St. The victim stated the
wanted subject ask to borrow money, but the victim refused and the
wanted subject became irate. The victim exited the residence and
moments later the wanted subject exited the residence brandishing a
shotgun. The wanted subject pointed the shotgun at the victim’s
head. The victim grabbed the gun and attempted to move it from his
head and at this time the gun discharged. The wanted subject then

14) On Sunday, 7/5/2009 at or about 2:36am, Officers responded to an
aggravated battery by shooting near the intersection of St. Bernard
and Marais St. Upon arrival the Officers met with victim who had an
apparent gunshot wound to the leg. 7th Ward, Shooting

15) On Sunday, July 5, 2009 Officers responded to an aggravated battery by
cutting at 900 N. Claiborne. Victim stated she was involved in a
verbal altercation inside of Club Fabulous. Victim stated a large
fight escalated at which time she was stabbed several times. Victim

1) Police are on the scene of a double murder in the 1400 block of Iberville Street, near the French Quarter, in an apartment of the public housing complex. Officers say a man and a woman were shot to death in the incident, but gave few other details. IPH, Double Murder

2) An unrelated shooting resulted in a wounded person appearing at the Walgreens Drug Store at 1100 Elysian Fields Ave., and authorities are at the business. An employee of the drug store reported that the shooting victim was alive and came to the business after being shot elsewhere. St. Claude area, Shooting

3) On Sunday, July 5, 2009 at about 10:10am the victim was walking on
Marais St. towards Congress, and upon reaching Independence, the
wanted vehicle, pulled alongside of him. The vehicle was occupied by
four (4) unknown black males. The front passenger exited the vehicle
and started shooting at the victim striking him several times. The
victim fled and notified the police. St. Claude area, Shooting

4) On Sunday, July 5, 2009 at about 4:13pm, while in the 3500 block of
Clermont Dr., the victim and the arrested subject became involved in a
verbal altercation. The arrested subject struck the victim about his

1) 6300 blk Hayne. On 07-02-09 at 624pm, officers arrived and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. Victim pronounced on scene. NO East, Murder

2) 8000 blk Dwyer. On 07-04-09 at 925pm, officers arrived and found victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. NO East, Murder

3) On Saturday, July 4, 2009, at about 6:30pm, the victim was in the 4000 block of N. Rampart St. At about this time one of the arrested subjects sprayed paint in the victim’s face. The arrested subject then cut the victim. The victim relocated to another location and notified the police. Bywater, Assault

4) On 07-04-09 at 1055am, victim was at the location looking under the
hood of the his vehicle, when the w/s walked up and asked what was
wrong with the vehicle. W/S then walked to the rear of the vehicle and
began to close the doors. W/S pulled out a black semi-auto handgun and
began firing towards the victim striking him once in the leg. W/S then

5) On Friday, July 3, 2009, at about 1:00am, the victim stated he was
standing in the 1100 block of Franklin Ave., when the wanted subject
asks him to leave. A verbal altercation ensued and the wanted subject
produced a knife and stabbed the victim. The victim fled the scene

1) 3100 block of Mansfield [Homicide]. On 06/27 at 0018hrs, officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival officers observed the victim lying face down suffering from gunshot wounds to the body. Cutoff, Murder

2) On Sunday, June 29, 2009, at about 11:22pm, the victim stated he was in the 1800 block of Industry. The victim stated he observed the wanted subjects running from an alley in the block. The victim stated the wanted subjects then began to shoot at him. The victim was unable
to provide any further information at the time of the incident as he was being treated by EMS personnel. Gentilly, Shooting

3) New Orleans police booked a 21-year-old man Friday in connection with the shooting death earlier this week of a young woman inside a troubled downtown hotel. Troy Gloston-Phelps pointed a gun at a 20-year-old Algiers woman and pulled the trigger once during a heated dispute Tuesday night inside the Canal Street Hotel. The Canal Street Hotel, a budget hotel housed in a 50-year-old building at the corner of Canal Street and Claiborne Avenue, has long been a hotbed of crime, hosting prostitutes and drug-runners and delinquents. 1) On June 28, 2009, at approximately 10:00 p.m., officers responded to gunfire in the 2000 block of Baronne Street and discovered the victim of a homicide lying near the sidewalk. He had been shot multiple times. Central City, Murder

2) A shooting at 4551 Skyview Drive in eastern New Orleans has left two males and five females injured. The victims were celebrating as part of a large repast gathering around 9 p.m. [Monday] when two suspects opened fire on the group. The gunmen fired on the group, retreated into a nearby alley, fired again, and fled in a burgundy or maroon Lincoln Town Car with large rims. New Orleans East, Shooting

3) On Saturday, June 27, 2009, at 3:15am, witnesses standing near Canal
and S Peters heard several gunshots and observed the victim suffering
from a gunshot wound to the leg. The suspects fled on S Peters toward
Esplanade in a black pickup truck. French Quarter, Shooting

4) On Thursday, June 25, 2009, at approximately 11:31 p.m., a Sixth District officer on patrol heard gunfire coming from the intersection of Danneel Street and Washington Ave. The victim sustained several gunshot wounds to the body and provided few details about the incident. 5) On 06-25-09 at approximately 9:20pm, Officers of the First
District responded to a shooting in the 3700 block of Baudin
Street. Upon arrival, the Officers observed the victim suffering
from gunshot wounds. The victim later listed in good condition at

6) On Thursday, June 25, 2009 at approximately 5:56 pm, the victim was
standing on a porch located in the 2200 block of Cadiz Street. At that
time a subject later identified as Burtell Thomas, black male, date of
birth 4-14-83 fired several shots which struck the victim mortally
wounding him. The suspect fled in a silver four-door Pontiac in an
unknown direction. Uptown, Murder

7) On 06-23-09 at approximately 2:30am, the victim was standing in front
of his residence in the 2500 block of Tulane Ave. The victim
observed a dark colored vehicle approaching, at that time he heard
gunshots. The victim felt a pain in his left thigh and was
immediately transported to University Hospital where he was listed in
good condition. Mid-City, Shooting

8) On 06-22-09 at approximately 3:00am, the victim was traveling west on
I-10 interstate at which time a black Chevrolet truck approached the
victim and fired 5 or 6 shots in the victim’s direction. The victim
suffered a gunshot wound to his back and was listed in stable

9) On 06/22/09 at approximately 12:25pm, the victim and the suspect
engaged in a physical confrontation in the 2100 block of Lapeyrouse
Street. The suspect then grabbed a machete and struck the victim
several times. 7th Ward, Shooting

10) On 06/21/09 at approximately 11:30pm, the victim was in the 2700 block
of St. Phillip Street, talking to a friend. The victim was
approached by the suspect, who stated “You Down Bad”. The victim
and suspect engaged in a verbal altercation, at that time the suspect
pulled out a small pipe and struck the victim in the top of his

On Monday, June 22, 2009 at about 3:45pm the victim was walking in the
3400 block of Urquhart St. The victim observed the wanted vehicle stopped at the intersection of Gallier and Urquhart St, occupied by two subjects. One of the subjects opened the rear passenger door and the other subject opened the front passenger door and began to shoot. The victim fled the scene to await the arrival of police and EMS. On Sunday, June 21, 2009 at about 9:15pm the victim was walking in the
2300 block of N. Johnson St. The victim stated the wanted subject
approached him from behind and started to hit him. They began to
fight until the wanted subject produced a handgun and shot at
the victim, who fled. St. Roch, Shooting

On Sunday, June 21, 2009, at 4:05am, the victims, W/M & 2 W/Fs, were
involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown black male and an
unknown white male. A short while later, the victims were standing on
the corner of Dauphine and St Louis when they were approached again by
the two suspects, who brandished a bat and struck the victims and sprayed them with pepper spray. The suspects then fled on foot in an unknown direction. French Quarter, Assault/Battery

On Saturday, June 20, 2009, at 5:30am, a police officer on patrol
heard gunshots at the corner of Burgundy and St Louis. As the officer
neared the corner, he was approached by the victim, B/M, was stated
that he had just been shot and identified a black male standing near
the intersection as the suspect. The suspect fired one shot at the
officer and then fled on foot. French Quarter, Shooting

On Saturday, June 20th, 2009 at around 7:15 P.M., the victim was
attending a repast in the 4200 block of Hollygrove Street, when an
unknown b/m subject ran up to him and shot him in both of his legs,
breaking them. A second victim, who was also attending the repast,
heard the shots and ran to a nearby relative's home, where he realized
that he had been shot in the left leg. Hollygrove, Shooting

Telly Hankton, described as a drug-dealing murderer who has long eluded justice, will remain jailed until Friday, when two judges consider whether to let him out on bond on charges of gunning down two men in revenge killings. Hankton surrendered to New Orleans police Monday afternoon after police implored the public to help track him down in connection with the Saturday night killing of Jesse Reed. Hankton, already awaiting trial in the 2008 murder of Darnell Stewart, was out on a $1 million bond when Reed was killed. Both Stewart and Reed were booked in 2007 in the murder of Hankton's cousin, George "Cup" Hankton III, 40. But neither was ever brought to trial. Just before midnight Saturday, Reed, 26, died on the pavement from gunshot wounds. Police collected 59 casings at the crime scene that unfolded in the 2300 block of Terpsichore Street. THE WANTED SUBJECT WALKED TO HIS VEHICLE AND RETURNED TO THE SIDEWALK IN FRONT OF THE RESIDENCE. THE SUBJECT BEGAN SHOOTING AT THE VICTIM AT WHICH TIME THE VICTIM WAS STRUCK IN HIS ABDOMEN. On Friday, June 19, 2009 at about 9:24pm, the victim was at theintersection of N. Johnson and Painters St. AT about this time thevictim was shot. St. Roch, Shooting

On Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at about 2:00 am the victim was in the2700 block of St. Claude walking home. At about this time he wasstruck on the back of his head. On June 16, 2009 at approximately 2:20 pm, the victim was seated on a
porch at an unknown location on Colapissa Street. At that time a black
Chevrolet truck stopped in the street and two unknown suspects
starting shooting at him. The victim received two gunshot wounds to
his right leg. The victim was uncooperative and refused to give a

1) A man accused of shooting a woman in the face Sunday in Chalmette. The woman he shot remains in critical condition. The shooting occured around 10:30 Sunday morning in a second-floor apartment in the 300 block of Plantation Drive. Labee was arrested shortly after the shooting. The womanwas India Dregory, also 20. She was Labee's girlfriend. Dregory was shot at close range in the face with a 12-gauge shotgun. The gun was loaded with "birdshot'' Chalmette, Attempted Murder

2) A 17-year-old from Kenner was shot in the head early Saturday morning outside a LaPlace night club. Xquisite Club on Airline Highway. Another person, a 21-year-old Kenner woman whose name was not released, was shot in the back of the neck. Laplace, Attempted Murder

3) 2200 block of L.B. Landry. On 06/14 at 2200hrs, officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting. Upon arrival officers observed the victim lying on the sidewalk suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Algiers, Shooting/Attempted Murder

4) On Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a full size brown pick-up truck stopped in the 2700 block of LaSalle Street and the two occupants described as black males began firing weapons at another subject. That subject was described as a black male wearing a white shirt and red shorts with a dark complexion and he was shooting back at the subjects in the truck. The victim was struck once in the upper left leg. Central City, Shooting

5) On 06/16 at 1010hrs, officers responded to a shooting on 1600 block of Newton. Upon arrival officers located the victim lying face down at the said location (parking area of Lawson's Grocery) suffering from numerous gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to University Hospital but while en route the victim was pronounce dead as a result of the injuries sustained in this incident. Although no witnesses came forward on scene, it is likely that the motive for this homicide was robbery as the victim never made it into the store to fill the ATM machine. The owner of the store indicated that the victim filled the machine 2-3 times weekly and to his knowledge the victim did so unarmed. Algiers, Murder/Robbery

6) 1700 block of Newton. On 06/12 at 1000hrs, victim and subject (brother) became involved in a verbal altercation regarding money. Altercation turned physical, at which time the subject relocated to the rear of the business and grabbed a handgun. Subject pointed the weapon at the victim at which time the victim fled the store fearing for his safety. Subject fired
several shots towards the victim, striking him multiple times. Victim was transported to University Hospital. Algiers, Shootinjg

7) On Sunday, June 14, 2009, at about 11:41pm the victim and the arrested
subject were in the 2700 block of N. Roman St. At about this time they
became involved in an argument. The argument escalated and the
arrested subject cut the victim. The subject was arrested on the
scene for domestic battery. St. Roch, Battery

8) 6/17/09. The victim and her mother, Kim Miles (B/F 03-14-1962), became involved
in an altercation at their residence in the 1400 block of Senate
Street, during which Kim Miles stabbed her in the back of her left
arm. Responding officers were able to apprehend and arrest Kim Miles,
who was arrested and charged in the above offense. Gentilly, Battery

9) On Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at 10:01 p.m. the victim was within the
1200 block of South Saratoga Street near the corner of Erato Street
and South Saratoga Street on a bicycle. The victim became involved in
an argument with a black male later learned to be Darryl Moore. Moore
produced a black semi-automatic handgun from his front waistband and
fired several rounds at the victim. The victim was struck in the leg
and began to flee the area on foot. The victim heard several more
gunshots and was struck again in his leg. The The victim fled the

1) Someone shot a 36-year-old Harvey man in the head and killed him late Sunday in Algiers, according to authorities. Lawrence Brown Jr. was shot about 10:05 p.m. near the corner of L.B Landry Ave and Erie Street, not far from the Fischer housing development. A bullet struck Brown in his head. McClebb's death was a retaliation killing, police said, but they have yet to make an arrest. Algiers, Murder

2) Roy Belton, 41, was found shot dead in the 4400 block of Shalimar Drive in eastern New Orleans about 1 a.m. Sunday. Police haven't announced any suspects or motive in Belton's killing. New Orleans East, Murder

3) On Sunday, June 14, 2009, at 12:a5am, the victim, B/F, was standing in the 700 block of St Louis when she approached an unknown black male who was sitting in his vehicle. The victim asked the suspect if he would play some “bounce” music on his car stereo. The suspect produced a handgun and pointed it at the victim. The suspect then fled in the vehicle. 4) On Saturday, June 13, 2009 at about 12:50am the victim was in the 2400 block of N. Villere St. At about this time a dark colored pick-up truck drove east bound passing the residence, the wanted subject in the rear bed of the truck started shooting striking the victim. About 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Leroy Harris, 22, bled to death from the gunshot wound to the theigh. St. Roch, Murder

5) Three teenagers attending a Sweet 16 party at a Gretna hotel Saturday night were shot, police officials said. The victims -- ages 15, 16 and 18 -- were in stable condition and recovering Sunday at LSU Interim Public Hospital, Gretna Deputy Chief Charles Whitmer said. At least one person fired bullets into a crowd gathered in a parking lot at 1411 Claire Ave., Whitmer said, in front of the America's Best Value Inn. One victim was struck in the back. Another was hit in the neck. A third was grazed by a bullet. Two victims were male and one was female, Whitmer said. He didn't know who was which age. Gretna, Shooting

6) On Friday, June 12, 2009 at about 3:00am the victim was in the 700 block of Louisa St. The wanted subject and the victim were engaged in a conversation, when at this time the wanted subject struck the victim on the forehead with an unknown object. 1) On Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 at around 2:30 A.M., officers responded to a call of gunshots fired in the 4200 block of Hollygrove Street. Upon their arrival, the officers found a b/m lying in the street, face down, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Hollygrove, Murder

2)On Saturday, June 6th, 2009 at around 9:00 P.M., the victim was outside of his home in the 6000 block of Wilton Drive when he was approached by Larry Dillon (B/M 12-09-1967), an acquaintance, who was armed with a semi-auto handgun. Mr. Dillon pointed the gun the victim and ordered him to lay down, which he refused, knocking the gun out of his face. Mr. Dillon fired the weapon. The victim ran inside of his home, with Mr. Dillon pursuing and firing two more times at him before fleeing the scene. Ross was arrested after officers responded to a call of an unresponsive infant at 1656 Gary Court, Apt. B, near Gretna. 1) A 17-year-old was shot to death Sunday morning at the intersection of North Claiborne Avenue and Frenchmen Street. The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. St. Roch, Murder

2) On Sunday, June 7, 2009 at about 11:30 am, the victim and the arrested subject were in the 1600 block of Mandeville St. A physical altercation ensued. The arrested subject picked up a pair of scissors and stabbed the victim. The victim is in stable condition. St. Roch, Stabbing

3) On Saturday, June 6, 2009, the victims were driving in the 2300 block of Allen St. Upon reaching the intersection of Allen & N. Rocheblave, they stopped for a stop sign. The wanted subject Rolland was at the aforementioned intersection, along with several other male subjects. The victims parked the vehicle in the 2300 block of Allen St., when the wanted subject passed in a silver Altima. The wanted subject pointed a silver handgun in the victim’s direction and fired. 4) New Orleans police are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run early Saturday morning that left one pedestrian dead and another injured in Central City around 1:45 a.m. when the driver struck two men who were trying to cross the thoroughfare at South Saratoga. A 38-year-old local man was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 50-year-old local male was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Central City, Vehicular Homicide

5) On Saturday, June 6, 2009, at about 3:05 am, the victim was walking in the 4200 block of Dumaine St when he was shot. The victim walked to the 900 block of N Hennessy St and collapsed from the gunshot wound. A witness heard loud noises outside and then observed the victim. 6) On Saturday, June 6, 2008 at approximately 8:58 pm the victims were standing on a porch in the 2700 block of Amelia Street. At that time they observed a brown or gray four door sedan approach with the headlights turned off. As the vehicle got closer to the victims two of the black males started firing an unknown type handgun at them. The vehicle fled on Amelia. Victim #1 sustained a gunshot wound to the buttocks and thigh. Victim #2 sustained a gunshot wound to the buttocks. Uptown, Shooting

7) On Thursday, June 04, 2009, at about 10:17pm, the victims were driving in the 3400 block of W. St. Roch St. At about this time they observed the wanted subjects also on St. Roch driving a tan Infiniti. The driver of the vehicle was known to the victims. 8) On Monday, June 1, 2009 at about 3:40am the victim stated he was traveling on the I-10 East bound and upon reaching Elysian Fields, the wanted vehicle pulled up to his vehicle. 1) A 42-year-old man was shot dead Wednesday night in Old Jefferson after a "drug deal went bad". The shooting occurred about 10 p.m. near the intersection of Burns Street and South Causeway Blvd in Shrewsbury. The dead man was found slumped over the wheel of a truck. 4) On 06/02/09 at 1300hrs, victim was driving a RTA bus. The arrested subject was a passenger on the bus along with her two month old daughter. As the victim approached the intersection of Gen Meyer and Holiday the arrested subject began to open a baby stroller in the bus. The victim informed the subject that she could not open the stroller until she exited. The victim stopped the bus at the intersection of Gen Meyer and St. Nick to which the arrested began to exit the bus with the opened stroller but before exiting the bus turned to face the driver and proceeded to throw baby formula on her from an opened plastic baby bottle. This happened yesterday:

A 46-year-old construction worker was fatally shot in a stickup attempt Monday afternoon as he and other men were renovating a home in the 7th Ward. The armed robbery took place about 3:15 p.m. just off the sidewalk, in the back yard of an on-the-mend house in the 1900 block of Allen Street. Jose Gutierrez-Aguilar and three other men were mid-sweat, working near a pile of discarded dry wall in the rear of the house when two men approached. The attackers implications grew clear when one of the two men pulled a gun. A struggle ensued over a wallet, police said. Two gunshots rang out, hitting the Gutierrez-Aguilar in the chest.

1) On 05/31/09 at approximately 9:38pm, Officers of the First District responded to a stabbing at Orleans Ave. and N. Dorgenois Streets. The Officers observed the victim suffering from several stab wounds to the back; the victim was listed in good condition. Treme, Stabbing

3) On Saturday, May 30, 2009, at approximately 12:54 a.m., the victims were walking in the 2000 block of St. Charles Ave. when words were exchanged and two of three suspects produced handguns and began firing at the victims. One of the victims was struck in the buttocks and the suspects made good their escape running uptown on St. Charles Ave. Uptown, Shooting

4) Terrinique T. Winters, 22, was fatally wounded in the 2800 block of Mansfield Avenue. Winters was attending a celebration of O. Perry Walker High School graduates. On 05/30 at 2146hrs, officers responded to gun shots fired in the area and a possible victim at the location. A victim was shot once in the back, while in the rear yard of the location and Williams shot once fatally in the head. An unknown subject approached the location via an adjacent rear yard and began firing a weapon into the crowd, at which time another group of individuals affiliated with the party returned fire. 5) On Friday, May 29, 2009 at about 6:52am, the victim was driving his vehicle near the intersection of Rabbits and Abundance Sts. At about this time the wanted subject approached the victim’s vehicle and fired several shots into his vehicle striking him. The wanted subject then fled the scene. ?, Shooting

6) On Thursday, May 28, 2009, at about 15:15pm the victims were in the 1300 block of Alabo St. While at the location a black vehicle occupied by several unknown black males pointed weapons at the victims and discharged the weapons. 7) On 05/25/09 at approximately 2:39am, the victim and a friend were sitting in their Van in the 2100 block of Marais Street. At that time, three unknown black males approached brandishing a long gun as they yelled into the vehicle. One of the suspects fired a shot into the vehicle striking the victim in the arm. 8) On Monday, May 25, 2009 at about 11:02pm the victims were in the 2100 block of N. Dorgenois St., at about this time they observed the wanted subjects running towards them discharging weapons at them. The victims began running from the wanted subjects and at this time they were struck by the bullets. 7th Ward, Shooting

9) On 05/24 at 1857hrs, victim was shot in the head after punching an unknown black male in the face. witness advised that he and his brother (victim) were confronted by the subject that was looking at
him. As the subject approached, he grabbed his front waistband, at which time the victim punched the subject. Subject then shot the victim two times. Victim expired on 05/26/09. Somewhere on Ptolemy, Murder

11) On 05/20 at 2138hrs, officers responded to a vehicle fire in the 7400 block of Rankin. Upon arrival, officers observed a burning vehicle and what appeared to be an unknown subject lying face down, with the upper portion of the torso inside the burning vehicle. 1) ON 05-20-09 at 1pm, victim #1 advised the front door to her home opened with 2 unk b/m subjects entering pointing a small black handgun at her. Subject #2 ran up the stairs as subject #1 held the gun to the victim's head and stated "IF YOU CALL ANYONE I WILL KILL YOU!" Subject #1 quickly came back downstairs and grabbed 2 sets of keys from a hook on the wall and both subjects fled when they heard a noise outside. Victim #2 stated as he arrived at home he observed the 2 subjects running from the house, he took pictures of the subjects then chased them to Corsica Pl where the 2 subjects fired several shots at him. 1) A 27-year-old Marrero man was killed after two armed men burst into his home and fired several shots into his head. Deputies responded to the incident at 429 Wilson Drive around 5:48 a.m.

2) On Mother's Day, New Orleans police said, relatives discovered the couple fatally shot in the Pontchartrain Park home where the Cassimeres raised nine children in the 5400 block of Seminary Place shortly before 8 a.m.

3) Around 11 p.m. Saturday, sheriff's deputies responded to reports of gunfire in the 1700 block of Mansfield Avenue in Marrero. There they found the body of Christina Allen, 21, who lived in that block, suffering from several gunshot wounds.

4) Around midnight Saturday, New Orleans Fire Department firefighters found a charred body in the rear of a burned vehicle after they had extinguished a fire in the 12000 block of Old Gentilly Road.

5) The mother of a 13-year-old boy who was shot to death Monday afternoon in eastern New Orleans said her son had been feuding for the past few months with his alleged 14-year-old killer over his resistance to joining a gang. Shaka-Daquan was headed to the store with friends, she said, when the 14-year-old, armed with a handgun, approached and opened fire, hitting Shaka-Daquan. His body was found in front of a home in the 4800 block of Flake Avenue.

6) On May 7, 2009, at approximately 9:17 p.m., there was a shooting at Louisiana Ave. and Loyola Street. Sixth District officers were in the area, heard the shots and quickly responded where they observed a subject running from the scene with a handgun. They gave chase but the subject made good his escape after discarding the gun. The officers recovered the weapon and located the victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.

7) On Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at about 8:45pm the victim was at the
intersection of St. Roch and N. Prieur Sts. The wanted subject
produced a handgun and started firing at the victim. The victim fled
the scene.

8) On Thursday, May 7, 2009 at about 10:30am while in the 3300 block of
Marais, the victim and the arrested subject were involved in an
argument. The arrested subject armed himself with a handgun. The
arrested subject pointed the weapon at the victim and discharged it.
The subject was arrested by Fifth District Officers.\

9) On Saturday, May 9, 2009 at about 10:14am the victim was driving near
the intersection of Gordon and Burgundy St. At about this time the
wanted subject known to him approached the vehicle from the rear armed
with a shotgun. The wanted subject discharged the weapon at the rear
of the vehicle. Several of the pellets struck the victim in the
face. The wanted subject then fled the scene.

10) On Sunday, May 10, 2009 at about 7:47pm the victim was in the 170
block of Gallier St. The wanted subject exited a vehicle walked into a
residence in the block and retrieved a gun. The wanted subject yelled
out profanities and at this time began shooting in the direction of
the victim. The victim received several gunshots wounds and is listed
in critical condition.

1) Members of the New Orleans Police Department have arrested 25-year-old Roy Parker, wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of his estranged wife, a 23-year-old female and the shooting of a 25-year-old male. Over the past couple of weeks people have gotten pissed enough to do the following things. With the possible exception of #1, this was all personal:

1) On Monday, 4/13/09, 6:38 pm, the victim was walking near the intersection of Painter St and Dreux Ave, when a gray Ford Taurus approached occupied by two unknown suspects. The suspects began firing at the victim who fled.

2) On Tuesday, 4/14/09, 4:46 P.M., the victim and his friend, Carter, Ponce became involved in an argument at the corner of Baccich Street @ Selma Street over a cell phone, during which Mr. Carter pointed a handgun at him.

3) On Tuesday, 4/14/09 at about 10:27 am, the victims and the arrested subject were in the 3200 Block of Pauger St. A verbal altercation became physical when the arrested subject pushed one of the victims. The arrested subject retrieved a weapon and discharged it at the victim’s truck.

4) On Friday, April 10th, 2009, the victim, her boyfriend, Weddington, Charles and his brother were involved in an argument over a Social Security Card at their home in the 5300 block of Cameron Blvd., when Charles Weddington began punching his girlfriend in the back and when his brother attempted to stop him, he threatened to kill him. Charles Weddington then exited the residence, returning moments later with a shotgun.

2) Two children and a teenager were killed Saturday morning in Terrytown. 900 block of East Monterey Court, 3:43 a.m. Two unidentified men entered an apartment and "executed" a 23-month old male toddler and the baby's 19-year old mother. 1) On Saturday, March 21, 2009 at about 2:38am, while inside the Saturn Bar 3000 St. Claude, the victim was involved in an altercation with the wanted subjects. The altercation spilled into the streets when at this time the victim was struck by an unknown vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

2) Alvin Smith, 21, was found shot to death in front of an abandoned apartment complex in the 1900 block of Port Street this morning [Monday, 23rd]. Smith had likely been left on the sidewalk in front of the home for at least 12 hours.

1) A man who allegedly forced his way into three New Orleans homes and victimized three Hispanic women was an one-year veteran of the New Orleans Police Department, according to Police Superintendent Warren Riley. Police identified the officer as Darrius Clipps of the 2nd District. The NOPD originally described the suspect as a man "impersonating" an officer or security guard.

2) "Patrolling Algiers one August night, New Orleans police officer Stephen Neveaux and his partner hear a series of explosions. He drives toward the noise. The police car pushes on. The gunman glances at the cops, then turns and fires twice again into darkness. When Neveaux's moment came that night, he chose to hold his fire and let the car crawl forward. According to the New Orleans Police Department, what Neveaux did was wrong. So wrong, in fact, that internal investigators cited him for cowardice and neglect of duty. Superintendent Warren Riley fired Neveaux."

1) Nathaniel Ross, 55, died Saturday from injuries he sustained when he was beaten in the 4100 block of Hollygrove st. more than a week earlier.

2) On Sunday, March 15, 2009, at about 7:07am the victim was in the 6000 block of St. Claude Ave when she was shot [NOPD: Attempted Murder].

3) A 19-year-old man was shot in Gretna late Monday night. He was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition. The shooting occurred sometime after 10:30 p.m. in the 100 block of Frederick Road.

4) A 26-year-old man was shot in the back Monday evening in Algiers. The man was walking in the 1200 block of Belleville Street near DeArmas Street about 6:20 p.m. Stable condition.

5) On Saturday, March 14, the victim became involved in an argument with her son, Harrell, 18, over the electric bill at their home in the 6200 block of Vermillion St, during which he punched her in the head and face, knocking her to the floor. Once on the ground, Mr. Harrell began to kick her, hit her with a microwave and broke a board over her head, causing her to briefly lose consciousness.

1) An Algiers teenager has been arrested in the Monday night shooting in the 2400 block of Chelsea Drive. Floyd Torry, 19, was booked 1 a.m. Tuesday with aggravated battery in the shooting of a 19 yo man. Police did not explain why Torry was charged with aggravated battery and not attempted murder.

2) On February 24, 2009 at 9:38pm Sedcond District Officers responded to a shooting at the intersection of Edinburgh and Eagle Streets. The victim had several gunshot wounds to the chest.

3) Leon Kennedy, 62, died in a hospital bed Thursday morning, minutes after being shot as he stood near the doorway of his Kenner home.

4) Terrell Riley, 16, a high-school junior from Garland, TexaS was shot at least once in the torso and left to die near the corner of Castlewood Drive and Elmdale Road in eastern New Orleans on Thursday.

5) A man flagged down New Orleans police officers around 3 p.m. Thursday and told them he had been kidnapped by two men around 1 a.m. in the 100 block of Terry Parkway in JP and driven to a vacant house at 716 Majestic Place in Algiers in New Orleans. The man who was shot collapsed in the 1600 block of Pacific Avenue.

1) On Sat, Feb 21, at 2:30am, the victim, W/M, became involved in a verbal altercation with a co-worker in the 1100 block of Decatur. The co-worker suddenly struck the victim several times. The victim observed that he had sustained a laceration to the neck during the attack and did not know what had been used to cut him.

2) On Sunday, February 22, at 9:35 p.m., officers discovered the victim, Cornelius Williams, lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds to the torso at the intersection of Annunciation and Philip Street. He was pronounced dead shortly after by medical personnel.

3) Jefferson Parish authorities have identified the couple discovered Friday by their teen-aged son as the victims of an apparent murder-suicide at their home in Metairie. Dana Fouchi, 48, apparently shot his wife, Barbara Fouchi, 47, in the head around 6 p.m., then turned the gun on himself.

The victim was transported by E.M.S. to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect fled on foot into a residence located within the block. Responding officers were able to apprehend Willie Beasley, who was arrested and charged in this offense.

3) The mother of a newborn thrown into Lake Pontchartrain on Tuesday afternoon was in police custody eight hours later. The baby girl was dead when the body was pulled from the lake. 1) Downman & Chef Menteur. Homicide. On 02-08-09 at 5am, Officers found victim's vehicle off road smashed into parked van and fence with gunshot holes on the driver's side. Victim found inside vehicle with [fatal] gunshot wounds.

2) On Friday, February 6, 2009 at at about 7:05pm, the victim was walking in the 1200 block of Gallier St. when she was shot. Wanted: Unknown.

3) On February 8, 2009 at 2:34am, Victim and her mother had just left a bar room at Apricot & Cherry Sts. Victim was in vehicle as shots began outside of club. As victim's mother drove a bullet struck victim in the left side. Witnesses stated they were on the sidewalk outside of the club when unknown subjects in an SUV began firing at them.

4) On February 8,2009, at 8:56am victim was walking in the 2500 block of Cadiz Street when a black male driving a maroon four door vehicle struck him with the vehicle knocking the victim into an iron fence. Perpertrator then exited the vehicle and began firing an unknown type weapon at the victim striking him in the abdomen.

5) A man was shot to death inside an apartment about 3:30 a.m. today in the 900 block of Calhoun St, not far from Louis Armstrong International Airport

1) On Thursday January 29, 2009 at 1:45 p.m., First District Officers arrested Louis Simmons, b/m, 08/26/1963 for aggravated assault, in the Iberville Public Housing Development, after he produced a box cutter and threatened his step son with it.

2) On Sunday, January 25, 2009 at 4:10 p.m., First District Officers responded to a call of a shooting in the Iberville P.H.D, and discovered two black male victims, suffering from gunshot wounds. The investigation revealed that four black males ran inside of 373 Basin Ct. Officer's learned of a third gunshot victim at University Hospital. There the Officer's encountered all four subjects and observed Donald Jenkins, b/m, 08/03/1989 in possession of a 9mm pistol. First District Detectives identified Reginald Baptiste, b/m, 04/04/1987, as a suspect in the triple shooting.

3) On Monday January 26, 2009 at 5:33 p.m., First District Officers responded to a shooting in the Iberville Public Housing Development and discovered a victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the rear
hallway of 1423 Bienville St. The victim of the shooting was identified as Reginald Baptise.

4) On Thursday, February 5, 2009 at approximately 5:15 AM an Aggravated Burglary occurred in the Bocage Subdivision. A black male approximately 17-20 yrs of age, 5’6”- 5’7”, brown skin,approximately 130 lbs, thin mustache, dressed in a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and a black “doo-rag” or skull cap on his head which was close fitted and wearing dark colored gloves. The black male had a young sounding voice. The wanted subject made entry through a rear “Doggie” door. It is strongly suggested that residences with “Doggie” doors be secured from the inside of the residence.

1)An Algiers man was arrested late Tuesday night in the death of his 5-month-old daughter.George Lewis was booked with second-degree murder of the infant
2)The three men in the Lower Garden District were shot shortly after 2 p.m. while they sat in a car parked on the corner of Annunciation and Felicity streets. Bullets struck a 32-year-old man in the back and leg, a 20-year-old man in the leg and a 32-year-old man in the neck(We think one of these is a repeat.)
3)Police said the victim was driving on the Pontchartrain Expressway when a driver cut him off. As the two drivers carried on their dispute while continuing to drive, a passenger in the car that cut off the victim drew a gun and fired. A bullet hit the 39-year-old victim's leg.

1) A 21-year-old man was fatally shot Monday afternoon in the Iberville public housing complex. The shooting took place at about 4:10 p.m. inside an apartment in the complex in the 1500 block of Conti Street.

2) Brandon Ruffin -- a 19-year-old former O.Perry Walker High School student -- was booked Monday in connection with two shooting deaths seven months apart in the Fischer public housing complex. Police suspect Ruffin of killing teen-agers Kenneth Davis Jr. and Denzel Williams. Davis was shot in the head Thursday night. Williams was shot multiple times in the summer.

Minutes before a chance meeting of our editors this afternoon, one of us observed a man being detained - paddy wagon style - on the corner of Conti and Royal. Present were a generous 20 squad cars. Related? Can't say. Same street, close enough? That we can. Comments? We don't got none.

Gospel of TM: Every day above ground is a good day.

1) A local man surrendered to police this afternoon following a three-hour standoff in which he barricaded himself with a shotgun inside a shed in the Sixth Ward. New Orleans Police 1st District officers spotted the man at 9 a.m. this morning outside a house in the 1900 block of Bayou Road. The man was wanted for a crime. After seeing the officers, the man ran near a house in the 1900 block of Gov. Nicholls Street. He barricaded himself inside the shed. The SWAT unit was called in and tried to negotiate with the man. Eventually, the officers used tear gas. He surrendered at about 12:40 p.m.

2) On 01-28-09 at 1245pm, the victim stated he was sleeping in his vehicle when the a/s walked up, opened the door and stabbed him in the hand and face with a screwdriver. A/S then fled. A/S apprehended by officers in the 13000 blk of Chef Menteur. Hoang Nguyen, 09-26-66, A/M, was arrested and charged in this offense.

3) An O. Perry Walker High School student was shot dead Thursday night in the Fisher public housing complex in Algiers. An uncle identified the victim as 18-year-old Kenneth Davis Jr. He died from a gunshot wound to the head about 7:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of Vespasian Street. His body was discovered near the rear door of a two-story apartment building. The victim's distraught father pleaded with police to see his only son "before he's put in that bag." Officers explained the viewing would interfere with the investigation. The father shouted at police as his son's body was taken away in a black bag. Davis was a senior at O.Perry Walker who liked to play basketball and dominos.

A little more than two hours later, another 21-year-old was shot in the same block, but at the rear of the apartments.

Robertson and Montegut Sts., when two unknown black males dressed in dark clothing approached and punched him several times, knocked him to the ground, poured a liquid on him (possibly gasoline) and ignited it.

The man was lit on fire. Or the liquid poured on him was. Which might have been flammable. Regardless, he got some bruises from being punched.

2) During a hearing Monday, District Judge Joy Lobrano denied bond for the Rev. Martin Denesse and his daughter. Each were booked with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of crack cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The arrests were made after deputies pulled Denesse over for an illegal U-turn on Louisiana 23 in Belle Chasse.

1) On Saturday, January 24, 2009, at approximately 11:14 p.m., there was a shooting in the 2700 block of Josephine Street. Sixth District officers observed two subjects fleeing from the scene. It was discovered that [one of the subjects] sustained a gunshot wound to his face. The other subject fleeing the scene was also quickly stopped and found to be a juvenile.

2) On Saturday, January 24, 2009, at approximately 3:11 a.m., there was a shooting in the 700 block of 9th Street. Sixth District officers discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One had a gunshot wound to the leg and the other had gunshot wounds to the leg and torso.

Lately seems as if everyone's got murder on the mind and tongue. What shall come of it all? The reproach of the B/M, 17-20 yo, dressed in dark sweatshirt/pants? 3) New Orleans Police today arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the beating death of his father, 66, in an attack that also seriously injured the man's mother. Michael Singreen was arrested at the scene of the crime in the 200 block of Audubon Boulevard.

1) The victim , age 3, and the other children were in the front bedroom asleep and the other kids were in the back bedroom getting ready for bed. He [victim's grandfather] then heard several gunshots and the kids screaming. He said they ran to the front of the house and observed his house shot up and his grandson bleeding from his back. /// The incident took place at about 11 p.m. Thursday in the 14900 block of Emory Road. [The East]

2) A 28-year-old man was shot Thursday night while driving his car on the I-10 through downtown New Orleans. About 7:12 p.m., the victim drove near the Poydras Street exit on the I-10's eastbound span when several gunshots were fired at him from a white car packed with several passengers. A bullet struck the man's upper left shoulder. He drove himself to University Hospital, and he was in good condition Thursday night.

3) A man was shot multiple times Friday night in Marrero and died from the wounds. The man, 24 years old and from Marrero, was shot shortly after 9 p.m. in the 2100 block of Caddy Drive.

4) About an hour after the first shooting, another shooting was reported in Harvey in the 2400 block of Sandoz Street. The victim was shot multiple times and found slumped over the front seat of a silver, four-door Accura. A resident in the block said a friend went outside for a smoke and overheard people arguing. Then a man started shouting: "Somebody shot my brother! Somebody shot my brother!"

1) One teenager was arrested today and a second is being sought in the killing of Bobby Rae Lee, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds behind the wheel of his car Sunday night in Metairie. Authorities discovered that Lee, 24, had been shot Sunday about 11:30 p.m. after a deputy tried to stop his Ford Mustang for traveling without headlights near Airline and David drives. Lee's car continued for about two blocks before it stopped. When he opened the door, the deputy noticed that Lee was bleeding profusely from five gunshot wounds.

1) The New Orleans Police Department has issued an arrest warrant for a 37-year-old New Orleans man who allegedly beat his victim with a metal pipe. The suspect, Gregory Sanders, was involved in an argument with the victim on Jan. 4 at the intersection of 7th and Danneel streets, when Sanders armed himself with the metal pipe and struck the victim several times in the head.

2) A Metairie mother was jailed Tuesday for allegedly tossing her 3-week-old son across her living room because he was crying – twice. Shannon Cooper, 21, of 3448 Edenborn Ave., was booked with two counts of second-degree cruelty to a juvenile by detective Solomon Burke with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

3) A juvenile court judge on Wednesday found that New Orleans homicide detectives had enough evidence to arrest two 15-year-olds in the fatal shooting of French Quarter bartender Wendy Byrne, effectively transferring the cases to adult court.

1)1:40 p.m. as a large crowd gathered at Johnny Jacobs Playground, 5851 Fifth St., after a Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade ended there, Fortunato said.

According to witnesses, two unidentified men were arguing when one pulled a pistol and began to chase the other, firing several rounds. The bullets struck two bystanders. The 11-year-old boy was hit in the leg, while a 28-year-old woman suffered a "superficial gunshot wound to the face,"

Well, to be fair, it's not really an inauguration. We we're just trying to drive up the site traffic.

2)1900 block of Betty Street. Deputies dispatched to the scene found an unidentified man shot once in the stomach.The victim was alert and conscious when he was transported to University Hospital. His condition was not available Monday night.

And if you're looking for information on the Wendy Burns shooting, the Times-Picayune is reporting this morning that police have taken a 15 year-old-boy into custody. Apparently, he just walked in and confessed.
While NOMB would sure love to believe that a common morality and sense of responsibility motivated this confession, we got to say, we're pretty skeptical.

A note from O concerning MLK:

Many of you may know that we hang a photo of The Doctor on the wall of our office. He sits right next to Oretha Castle Haley, who does not have such a fancy frame. In time like these, inauguration aside, we have to think about what the Doctor might have said. A man with little political, and total social aspiration, we wish we could give the city of NO our cassette tape of his speeches. We hope the city of NO, the teachers, the leaders, the workers, and the porch chillers all take at least two seconds today to remember our boy. TO remember that we're all scared for our children's future and we all deserve safer streets.

1) A local woman who was fatally shot while walking with a friend in the French Quarter on Saturday night was the victim of armed robbers. The shooting occurred about 8 p.m. at the corner of Dauphine and Gov. Nicholls streets. More than a dozen friends and colleagues identified the victim as Wendy Burns, a bartender at French Quarter lounges Aunt Tiki's and Starlight by the Park. They printed photos of Burns, a popular veteran in the local service industry, and placed them alongside flowers at the murder scene and at her workplace. Marlon Defillo, assistant superintendent of the New Orleans Police Department, said the woman, a Quarter resident, was simply walking to a car with a friend.

Yesterday we threw a post up regarding this incident and then took it down a few hours later. We try to keep NOMB voice consistent, but something bout the tone didn't feel right on that one, so here's right:

A bartender working in the quarter was killed in a hustle gone wrong. It's a shame. The workers, never the fly-ins. The hours? The cash? Tourists got both. Odds? What they.

1)Louis Alonso George, 23, died Friday morning at the Interim LSU Public Hospital after he was shot once in the back. A 28-year-old man, also wounded in the robbery, was in critical condition. The two were victims of an armed robbery and shooting reported in the 1500 block of Kings Road on Thursday about 6 p.m.

While we cannot, of course, substantiate any of the following, and acknowledge whole heartedly that it's completely hearsay, we can help but feel like passing this stuff on:

Word on the street is that all our new DA's office is in the middle of a switch up, rotating assistant DA's into different courts. As a result, most of assistant guys and gals want to try and clear their case loads and are coping deals, especially when they aren't too familiar with the case. The result? Recently a man being held on attempted murder, accused of shooting a another man numerous times (one of the bullets grazing the victims head), was given 26 months on an aggravated battery by shooting charge, 12 months of which he's served and we'll probably be released in 2.
The point? Go ahead and shoot someone in New Orleans. Chances are they won't catch you, and if they do, they'll probably fudge up the investigation, but if they do make the charges stick, they'll most likely get fed up and let you slip.

Come on. Everyone is doing it.

1) On 01-09-09 at 1:30pm, victim stated he parked in front his apartment and was unloading groceries, when he observed a red vehicle stopped next to his parked vehicle, occupied by a subject known as Wayne, who suddenly shot at the victim striking him several times in the left side and rear. [7th District, Roger and Wright].

2) On Sunday January 11, 2009, As the victim walked out of a nearby establishment an unknown perpetrator shot the victim three times. The victim later expired while in surgery. The perpetrator then fled east on Apple Street then unknown. [2nd District, Apple and Monroe].

3) On Sunday, January 11, 2009 at about 8:58pm, the victim was in the 3100 block of N. Claiborne, the victim was shot several times.

4) A St. Bernard Parish man has been arrested for allegedly shooting his wife and her daughter in a fit of rage early Tuesday. The daughter was killed. The daughter, 18-year-old India Mahoney, was a senior at Warren Easton Senior High School in New Orleans. Police were alerted, and authorities arrived to find Mahoney dead of a gunshot wound. A bullet, meanwhile, had hit Elizabeth "Beth Marie" Richardson in the neck and injured her. Eugene Richardson said his son [suspect Charles Richardson] had not been able to work due to kidney ailments which required dialysis.

Yet again, we don't have much to say on these. We expect Charles' ailment will either kill him or force him to come in. We expect not to hear much more on the others. But we've got the map, which was implemented mostly to remind ourselves to follow up on posts past. If that yields anything, mark us cynical. If not, well, you probably live here, so you know.

1) About 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Demetrius Hamilton, 26, was shot while he was in the 8600 block of Apple Street in the Hollygrove neighborhood. He died at University Hospital less than an hour later.

2) A 58-year-old man who was shot in front of his 9th Ward home Sunday night has died at University Hospital. Willie Summers was shot multiple times at about 9:25 p.m. Sunday in the 3100 block of North Claiborne Avenue.

3) Donauwx J. Clark, 68, was found dead in his apartment at the senior citizens complex at 6440 Gen. Meyer Ave. in Algiers Monday afternoon. After EMS paramedics pronounced him dead, investigators began treating it as a homicide, namely because of the suspicious gap of time between Clark's last being seen with a stranger and his death.

4) A man fired a shotgun blast at the passenger of a car driving down an Irish Channel street late Sunday and caused a wreck.The car carrying the passenger came down the 900 block of Washington Avenue about 10:22 p.m. When the car approached the corner of Washington and Constance Street, a man toting a shotgun emerged from the driver side of a silver Infiniti parked at the intersection.

Updating sunday's: Police say that hours later, [Louise Declues'] 52-year-old son Tony DeClues confessed to killing her because he was short on drug money.

1) Monday January 5. 1800 block of Pauger St. The victim stated that he was talking with a group of females when a black male known as "Phillip" approached the group and began to disrespect the group of ladies. When the victim intervened, the perpetrator entered an unknown residence and returned to the group, armed with a hammer. The perpetrator stuck the victim on the forehead, causing a laceration just above his right eye.

2) On Thursday, January 8, 2009, at about 10:52am, the victim was at the intersection of Flood and Urquhart St., when the wanted subject shot him in the back.

3)A man was shot Friday night in the 2400 block of North Prieur Street. Shortly after 9 p.m, he was shot twice -- once in the leg and once in the stomach area.

3) A Harvey teenager who admitted to detectives that she put a baby in a clothes dryer so she could watch television without disturbance was indicted Thursday on a charge of second-degree murder.

A case moving forward usually garners quiet applause from us editors. Sometimes, though, the shoe fits too big. Everyone's had enough Law and Order forced down their eyes to appreciate how infuriating an insanity defense can be. Everyone would also do well to remember that a certain number of people really are mentally ill. This story is no less gruesome than it was back in September, but we here at the NOMB are as horrified by the why as the what.

1) On Wednesday, January 7, 2008, at about 8:45 pm, the victim was stopped in his vehicle in the 3900 block of Hamilton St. An unknown suspect approached the victim and fired three shots, striking the victim in the chest and hip. The suspect then fled the scene. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

2) A man being chased by law officers drove a truck into Lake Pontchartrain in Kenner this morning. Scharwath was removed from the water and taken to University Hospital in New Orleans for treatment of hypothermia. Scharwath was cited for traffic violations and resisting arrest by flight. Scharwath's father told investigators he didn't realize his son had the [his] vehicle.

2) A dog being trained to hunt rabbits last March discovered one of two dead women. Parish workers mowing the lawn near a makeshift Marrero carnival ground in August 2006 found the other. It is strange that no one has claimed their bodies if at one point they could pay or had someone pay to take care of their teeth. "They most likely belonged to a decent socioeconomic group. They weren't homeless."

1) Bracing for a $15 million federal court judgment that he inherited with the office, Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro is looking at every option to avoid such a payout -- including bankruptcy.

2) Monday: The shooting took place at about 10:25 p.m. at the corner of North Dupre and St. Ann streets. The victim, a 46-year-old local man whose identity has not been released, was shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

3) Saying that the police department must be purged of "trigger-happy" cops, a dozen local ministers called on Police Superintendent Warren Riley Tuesday to release the names of the nine undercover officers involved in the New Year's Day fatal shooting of 22-year-old Adolph Grimes III.

We're glad to hear the feds are involved. Really. And we're glad to hear people aren't letting this one go. They shouldn't. Still, the NOMB has grown wary of such fervor. We'll never be the ones to write justice off, but so often justice is off...

The new year is certainly raising some. The conflicting stories for Grimes case. The changing stories in the Central City father kidnapping/murder investigation.

The coffee shop is stacking yard signs that mark crime scenes and organizing a protest. But before we get carried away, let's take a minute to remember some high profile cases from 2008:

1) Kyle Brown: The soldier shot in the motel off Airline
2) Jessica Hawk
3) The activist murdered in the ninth ward

Remember these? If you don't, it's okay. We had to Google them too. The fact is,if we've learned anything from 2008 it's that two hot button cases can start off 2009, but will probably fade from the public eye as we are submerged again in another years worth of unnecessary, unpunished, occasionally unexplainable, and more often than not, untraceable violence.

1) New Orleans police said Saturday that a dispute about $4,000 in child support payments prompted a 22-year-old man to kill his 2-year-old son, dump his body in a playground and concoct an elaborate story about the boy's abduction. Ja'Shawn Powell's 48-pound body was discovered in a section of Van McMurray Park, behind a house in the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue.

Uncanny, macabre, totally irrational. Just what NO does best.

An update on Adolph Grimes, III:

2) Seven New Orleans police officers fired their weapons at a 22-year-old man who was killed early Thursday while sitting in a car outside his grandmother's house. Grimes was struck by 14 bullets. [Grimes] has lived in Houston [...] since Hurricane Katrina. He was in town to visit family. Riley said a gun was found on Grimes but would not specify where. Grimes' father acknowledged that his son owned a 9 mm handgun but said he had a Texas permit for it. The condition of Grimes' gun shows it was fired, Riley said, but he could not say whether any of the shell casings collected by police at the scene matched the gun. Grimes, the father of an 18-month-old son, had no criminal record. Assistant Police Superintendent Marlon Defillo said that on Saturday evening, as crime lab investigators began to "process" the car, they found an assault shotgun in the trunk along with a "high velocity" magazine clip for the 9 mm handgun and shotgun shells.

1) On January 1, 2009 at approximately 9:13 pm the victim was driving on Oleander. Intersection of Oleander and Joliet, green two door sport type vehicle cut in front. An unknown black male exited the vehicle and fired several shots. The victim returned fire. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to his left thigh.

2) A Metairie man who pushed his girlfriend from his pickup truck at a busy Metairie intersection, then ran over her in the street, remained in custody Friday night booked with negligent homicide.

3) A falling bullet grazed the back of a 25-year-old New Orleans man as he rang in the new year this morning, but authorities said celebratory gunfire overall appeared to continue its years-long decline.

Suppose it is time to reflect, but the work, it is unending and without pause. Respite for subjects and editors comes by way of small, fatty morsels ingurgitated with aid of watery beer. And sometimes by joy of firing one's toaster above one's head.

Three men were shot dead in New Orleans in the first 11 hours of 2009. The dead included a man killed by police officers after he fired at them.

1)1600 block of Gov. Nicholls Street at about 3 a.m. Officers approached it when its occupant, Adolph Grimes III, 22, began firing a pistol at them.Grimes continued firing even after officers told him to stop. The officers fired at the man, who died at the scene
2)5th District officers answered a gunshot call shortly after 3 a.m. and found Aaron Myre, 18, of New Orleans on the ground in the 2800 block of Clouet Street. He had been shot several times in the head and chest
3)2400 block of Treasure Street: Officers from the 5th District were called to the scene on a report of a "man shot" and discovered Damon Barden, 32, lying in the home with multiple gunshot wounds.

Our new years resoulution, aside from updating more frequently, is to not let bullshit statistics like "15% decline in murders in NO" distract us from the facts.

witness that three unknown suspects were breaking into his residence.
The victim arrived and confronted the suspects. One of the suspects
was armed and began to fire several shots at the victim, hitting the

fled the area.

Two Step

1) On Saturday, December 27, 2008 at about 7:50pm the victim was walking in the 2900 block of Royal St., and was punched in the head from behind. Two [subjects] were standing and the third subject was seated on one of two bicycles. The victim informed the subjects that he did not have any money, at which time; the second subject retrieved a large chunk of cement from the ground. He threatened to strike him if he did not give them his money. The victim relinquished his M3P player to the subjects.

2) On Saturday, December 27, 2008 at about 8:00pm, the victim was walking in the 2700 block of Royal St., when he and saw the wanted subjects approaching him riding bicycles. As they arrived he saw the first subject holding a dark colored handgun. He demanded the victim’s money. The victim saw a vehicle coming towards him on Royal Street. He entered the street and signaled for the vehicle to stop and assist him. The three subjects continued riding their bicycles west on Royal Street then unknown.

Looks like those boys got a head start on their New Year's resolutions. Biking is a great way to get in to shape, and with an mp3 player to keep you in rhythm it doesn't have to be boring!

3) A man was shot in the ankle this morning in Central City. New Orleans police responded about 9:15 a.m. to reports of shots fired on Seventh Street at the corner of Danneel Street.

4) A 22-year-old man who police suspect tried to rob, then tried to rape a woman in a Carrollton alley on Christmas Eve was placed behind bars Saturday. Malcolm C. Perry approached a woman walking near the corner of South Claiborne and South Carrollton avenues from behind. The woman later told police a man pressed a hard object, "possibly a handgun," against her and forced her into a nearby alley.

1) On Thursday, December 25, 2008 at around 6:05 A.M., the victim and his
girlfriend became involved in an argument at a home in the 6200 block
of Wainwright Street. During this argument, the victim's girlfriend
stabbed the victim in the chest with a kitchen knife.

2) A group of gunmen in the 3700 block of Annunciation Street shot a 3-year-old boy in the arm and chest Christmas evening, according to the New Orleans Police Department. Toddler was riding in a car with his grandmother. About 8:47 p.m., boy's grandmother passed an apartment complex and tried to back the car up. Suddenly, at least one gunman in a group of five to 10 young men in the area shot at the car. Gunfire hit the boy in the arm and grazed his chest.

3) Also, early today, someone shot a 25-year-old man inside his eastern New Orleans apartment [...] about 1:20 a.m. this morning in the 6700 block of Tara Lane in eastern New Orleans. Once he returned to his apartment for the night, the 25-year-old victim noticed it had been broken into. Suddenly, a man ran out, firing a pistol. The victim was shot seven times. He was taken to University Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Happy Boxing Day. Pinter died. He said this:

"I ought not to speak about the dead because the dead are all over the place."

And was probably right.
