NOMB swung by the house yesterday to charge the phone and eat peanut butter and jelly on four wheat crackers to keep them moving through the day. On their way out, four national guard troops pulled up in front of their house. All the while, only blocks away:

Two 15-year-old 9th Ward youths were wounded in a drive-by shooting late Monday afternoon, police said. Ivestigators learned the two had been standing in the 3200 block of Marais Street when a red vehicle headed west on Marais Street drove by, and one or more occupants of the vehicle opened fire, Flot said. Both were hit. They ran around the corner and collapsed on Piety Street, police said.

Day of paranoia to be sure. Sweet summer.

Death, Later in the Day

After the attempted mugging, and the run in with the low level Vietnamese gangster..and the irate landlord bent of driving a wedge between NOMB and their roommates, it took a while to compile our list of atrocities today. So without further ado:

A 19-year-old New Orleans man was shot to death in Algiers on Sunday and an 18-year-old was seriously wounded in the same incident, police reported.

Actually, that's it. We guess it just seemed like a crazy day, what with the violence so close to our breasts.

Sunday's Best

With all the commotion over at city hall, the police shake ups, the DA shake ups, every city employee with the nervous shakes, the people shaking in their boots every time the walk to the car after dark to get their cell phone that they forgot on the seat, its a miracle that NOMB has time to catch up

1. The 27-year-old man, whose name has not been released pending notification of relatives, was found at the intersection of Eagle and Spruce streets around 1:30 a.m. this morning.
He had a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead on the scene.

2. A 20-year-old New Orleans woman was shot once in the leg and was driven to a hospital for treatment in a private car. She is in stable condition, police said.

3. Responding around 9:30 a.m., officers found a man lying face down outside a building at 2139 Baronne St., near Jackson Avenue. The man was identified as Leon Williams, 54, of New Orleans, chief coroner's investigator John Gagliano said.

Why do we feel like we are missing one today. Ahh, who cares, we lost count so long ago.

Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies are investigating the fatal shooting of a 73-year-old Marrero man.
Officials say Louis Perreria's wife called 9-1-1 shortly before midnight today to say her husband had been shot. When deputies arrived, theyfound Perreria lying across a bed in his home.

New Orleans police were investigating the Lower Garden District shooting death of a man who arrived at Touro Hospital with a gunshot wound in his back and died a few hours later, police said.

The best part about this clip is the past tense, "were investigating"

Bag of white powder found with slain man

A 33-year-old man was found shot dead early Wednesday lying in an eastern New Orleans street on a bag of white powder that investigators said may be cocaine, police said.

Jefferson Parish is catching up, even if they deflate their numbers

The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting death of a man in Marrero early Thursday morning.

The incident, in the 2300 block of Sauvage Avenue, was reported shortly after midnight. No other details were immediately available.
