2)A 2-year-old girl was recovering from a gunshot wound to her arm Friday after being shot Thursday night in Mid-City.The toddler was sitting in the back seat of a car driven by her mother when a gunman opened fire at about 9 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of North Rendon Street, near the corner of Bienville Street.

3)New Orleans police and National Guardsmen helping patrol the city are investigating the Friday night shooting of a man in eastern New Orleans. The man was shot once in the abdomen about 8:45 p.m. on the grounds of an apartment complex in the 10000 block of Hayne Boulevard.

4)An Avondale man accused of having sex with his family's pit bull remained in jail Thursday after his mother reported him to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office. Roy Laborde Jr., 27, was booked with two counts of crimes against nature Wednesday. He is being held in the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on $10,000 bond. Laborde is accused of having sex with his family's pit bull, Sissy, on at least two occasions, according to an arrest report.
Here's a game folks, guess which story the bold Defillo quote actually belongs to. To be truthful, the only odd set of circumstance that have occurred to us this morning is the fact that we don't think all of this is odd.

Can't Say Goodbye
Ever sat in the car with your sweetheart an hour after you were supposed to drop them off, your parked in front of their door, kissing, talking, spending those quiet night hours together with the windows down and the radio on?
A 31-year-old woman was shot when she tried to flee an armed robbery attempt Tuesday night in Mid-City. The woman was shot in the chest, but the wound apparently was not life-threatening. The woman and a 37-year-old man were sitting inside a vehicle near the intersection of North St. Patrick and St. Peter streets shortly after 9 p.m. when they were approached by two men, who demanded the woman's purse at gunpoint. The woman tried to escape by driving away, but one of the men fired into the car, hitting her once. The gunman and an accomplice escaped

The Ugly:
A Metairie man has been booked with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a 7-month-old baby in MayIn a court-filed probable cause affidavit, investigators said they learned that Beach often became angry when the infant cried and had been known to place blankets on top of her to muffle her cries.
The Carpenter:
Sam Maggio drowned Sunday evening, pulled under by a fatigued and panicked swimmer who had been struggling against the surging surf off Florida's Gulf Coast. The waters off Perdido Key near Pensacola had been churned by Tropical Storm Edouard, creating powerful waves.
We'd just like to say that we had the chance to work with Sammy Maggio a number of times during our construction stint in the city. He was a good guy. Most of the time, he was doing renovation work in the church rectory.

on Tuesday, friends, relatives and pastors buried Wolfe, a home renovator found dead in a Broadmoor back yard on July 31. The killing became part of a bizarre chain of events that included a robbery, a burglary at Wolfe's home across the lake and a shootout with New Orleans police.
Killed on the Job. Our worst nightmare.

New Orleans police booked a 22-year-old man with second-degree murder in connection with a Sunday night shooting in the 3100 block of Bruxelles Street. Clarence Singleton was charged after being treated for a dog bite he received while running from police. Third District officer on patrol at the intersection of Paris Avenue and North Broad Street heard shots being fired about 10:15 p.m. and drove in the direction of the gunfire. When the officer reached the 3100 block of Bruxelles, he saw a man with a handgun and told him to drop the weapon. The man, identified by police as Singleton, refused and pointed the weapon at the officer, at which time the officer then fired several rounds but missed. Singleton then ran into an alleyway of a home. As S.W.A.T., canine and military units searched for him, they found an unidentified man who had been shot and was lying on the ground in the rear yard of a home with a handgun in his possession. Emergency medical technicians took the victim to a local hospital where he died. Shortly afterwards, the canine unit located Singleton hiding under a house in the 1700 block of Treasure Street. Singleton refused to surrender and the canine was sent in after him. Singleton was taken to a local hospital where he was treated for a dog bite to his leg.

The incident originated at Hamburg and Lafreniere streets when two men approached the victims and began firing weapons. The victims' vehicle came to a stop eight blocks away at Mandolin and Hamburg streets, where police were called. The two gunmen fled the scene.
Wow, seems like we take a few days off and the whole thing blows up on us.

We can't count this morning. That 7 all together, right? Only two died though, right? We're so glad our coffee shop is back open after a week of summer vacation.

There were no narcotics found at the scene, this was not a drug related murder. after investigating what the police thought was narcotics was actually my son's prescribed medication. No where was there ever a article stating that this was not a drug related murder, but it left for people to think.... DRUGS, another murder who cares? I care 7 months my family lives with his death the pain is as real today as was that Monday morning in January when our lives changed forever. We will not give up hope that there will be justice for his murderer.
