New Orleans police are investigating the unrelated shooting deaths of a woman in eastern New Orleans and a man in the 9th Ward.
The woman, Tammie Johnson, 36, of New Orleans, died of a shotgun blast to the chest, chief coroner's investigator John Gagliano said.
In the other case, police were called to the 1300 block of Bartholomew Street on Sunday shortly after 7 a.m. In an alley between Urquhart and North Villere streets, officers found a 26-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Chaotic bursts of gunfire outside Kenny's Key West in Metairie wounded two men early Sunday. The barrage left 50 casings on the ground near the popular nightclub with a history of violence.

Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputies are investigating an apparent murder-suicide of a couple Sunday in the 1400 block of Dogwood Drive in Harvey.
