Days Behind

To start:
The numbers detail the first three months of 2007, when 48 people were murdered in New Orleans, according to the NOPD, a rate of one victim every 1.8 days.

With that in mind...

Today: New Orleans police are searching for an unidentified man in connection with a carjacking and armed robbery at an Algiers car wash.

Yesterday: A 15-year-old boy was arrested Sunday after a shooting that left a New Orleans man in critical condition. The teenager was an acquaintance of the victim's, said Garry Flot, a police public information officer. The juvenile escaped, but was arrested several hours later at his New Orleans home, police said. Police said detectives found the gun used to shoot the man.

New Orleans police are asking the public's assistance in locating a man accused of shooting someone in one case and of robbing two people in another incident.It is believed Peters may try to alter a tattoo of a cross on his forehead, Garry Flot, a police spokesman, said.

Saturday: Sheriff's deputies are searching for "a person of interest" following the fatal shooting of a LaPlace man.
Deputies responded Friday to a report of shots fired about 5:45 p.m. and found Dow Anderson, 22, shot in the left eye, police said. He was found in the 200 block of Joe Parquet Circle in LaPlace, Maj. Mike Tregre of the St. John the Baptist Sheriff's Office said Saturday
