It occurs to us that people outside the city might maybe find the Murder Blog project a bit grotesque. Maybe they question the motives. Or maybe they need a small example of how we're living down here to understand.

Exhibit 1: Walking home, we find this on the corner of our block.

(In case you're wondering, this is the packaging for a pistol cleaning kit. Works for .40, .41, .44, .45 and 10mm! NOMB nas never heard of a .41)

In and of itself, not much. Hey, at least they're keeping them clean right? Helps with aim probably, right?

Exhibit 2
: Flip it over and you have this..

This is a map too our humble little block over here in the 9th.

On with the news:

A New Orleans man was shot to death Friday night between two vacant houses in the Hollygrove neighborhood, New Orleans police said. The man, whose name was withheld, was pronounced dead in the 8900 block of Forshey Street by a doctor with the New Orleans Emergency Medical Service. The 42-year-old victim was the fifth person slain in New Orleans in four days. Friday's shooting occurred about 7 p.m. between Gen. Ogden and Hollygrove streets. At 7:06 p.m., officers responded to a call about a man lying on the ground in the area between Earhart Boulevard and Palmetto Street, and between South Carrollton Avenue and the Jefferson Parish line. Officers found the man between the second and third houses from Gen. Ogden, and learned two men were seen fleeing on foot. The victim had multiple gunshot wounds to the head and body.

1-10 and Louisa Wed 3:38AM- 24 year-old man is shot while driving

Is it us, or does it sound like someone is driving around on the freeways at night taking shots at random motorists?
