Welcome Home!

1) A 49-year-old Metairie man was in stable condition Friday after he was shot in his apartment on Independence Street in Metairie.

2) A Marrero man was shot to death Friday by a Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputy after a traffic stop, and the man's family is struggling to reconcile their recollection of his easy-going personality with the deputy's account of the altercation.
Learn Daniel Manuel Jr., 22, was shot shortly after midnight by Deputy Thomas Gai, 23, in a wooded lot off Pritchard Road near Leo Kerner/Lafitte Parkway after the deputy said Manuel repeatedly pointed an assault rifle at him while trying to flee, authorities said. Manuel died at about 5 a.m. at University Hospital.


3) A man was shot Friday night in the Irish Channel, New Orleans police said.
The shooting occurred about 7:30 p.m. at Fourth and Chippewa streets. The victim, shot once in the back, was alert and talking when taken to a hospital. He was believed to be in stable condition

Hey, I appreciate this blog for its real purpose: to point out the serious problem of the ridiculously high murder rate in NOLA. I wanted to know if you could publish an ongoing count of exactly how many murders have happened so far this year. I can't find a figure on it anywhere. Thanks.
